Rare George Dancy Necklace - Sterling Glass - Ontario Canadian Modernist
Rare George Dancy sterling silver & glass choker necklace. This is handcrafted, hand signed and one of a kind. The glass on this piece does change shades slightly darker/lighter in different light. There is one bubble in the piece that has an amber undertone. Expertly made, these are part of Canada's jewelry history.
George Dancy was a member of the Ontario (Canada) Metal Guild, working in Sterling Silver, glass, and stone. His work as an auto mechanic was cut short due to arthritis however this opened the doors to a second career in jewelry (1950's). Creating bold modernist design, his work is comparable to Andrew Fussell, Bob Ford, Douglas Boyd and Nancy Meek.
The Neckring measures approx. 14" The Pendant measures approx. 3.25" long x 2" wide Hallmarked "Dancy Canada" Good vintage condition with original patina and minor wear appropriate to age. Glass is also in good shape.
