Early Rafael Canada Necklace Copper - Kinetic - Earthy Glass
Early Rafael Alfandary necklace made out of copper with kinetic tassels/fringe and a stunning earthy clear/water color glass cabochon. Brutalist in design with rough soldering accented by the smooth glass stone. This piece also has Rafael's handmade chain with the flat hammered bars. This style is titled "Davies" in Rafael's catalog after his friend and good customer Ms. Davies.
Rafael was a famous jewelry designer in the 1970's, designing for many celebrities. His designs tend to use glass and brass, but on occasion he would mix copper or other found objects into the mix. He loved to make large statement pieces, many of them having kinetic movement.
Titled "Davies" in the Rafael Catalog. The pendant and tassels measure about 3.75" tall x 2.75" wide The chain measures about 30" in total length. Signed "Hand Crafted By Rafael" (Rafael is hand signed) The piece is in good vintage condition with patches of aged patina and minor wear appropriate to age. The chain has silvered a bit (loss of copper plating) but still very wearable.
