Rare Gilbert Rheme ring made out of Sterling Silver with forest green resin. This ring has a very geometric design, from the dashes of silver to the large block of green resin. Circa 1970's. Rheme's work very rarely comes onto the the market, being prized and collected by many. His work is uniquely different but comparable to the other great Canadian Brutalist artists such as Larin, Vidal, Alfandary and Chaurdron.
Gilbert Rheme Swiss born artist, living and working primarily out of Quebec. His career spanned several decades, selling across North America. Rheme started creating jewelry after he couldn't find an appropriate ring to propose with, his Fiance said yes and a jewelry career was born. Rheme's work is often sculptural, geometric and one of a kind.
The top of the ring is 1 2/8" long x 0.75" wide and sits 3/8" tall on the finger. Ring size 6.5 Hallmarked "Sterling", hand signed "RHEME" Vintage condition with some wear to the metal and resin. This piece does have a crack across the centre of the resin, this does not take away from the stability or look.
