Bernard Chaudron Necklace made out of Bronze with gold plate. Stunning and rare piece by Chaudron, highly sculptural. Reminds me of Magritte's "The Son of Man" painting. This piece is double sided and can be worn with either face showing. Very mid century and unique.
Chaudron's jewelry is very rare, only creating his jewelry in his early career. Most of his designs are abstract/geometric but occasionally he would create figural pieces. His jewelry career lasted from the late 1960's to the end of the 1970's. His epoxy/enamel work often glows in certain light, often working in stunning reds, teals, greens and oranges.
His work is uniquely different but comparable to the other great Canadian Brutalist artists such as Larin, Vidal and Alfandary.
The Pendant is 1.75" long x 1" wide.. The chain is about 19" in total length. No visible hallmarks. This piece dates to his last collection before he stopped designing jewelry. (late 1970's) Necklace is in good vintage condition with appropriate wear and patina for it's age.
