Rare Bernard Chaudron bronze brooch made with glass enamel. This piece features blackish and white glass enamel in a splatter design. The brooch perhaps represents a bird, cactus or a flame. The glass enamel pieces are much more rare as they were considerably harder to create.
Chaudron's jewelry is very rare, only creating his enamel jewelry in his early career. The enamel work is breathtaking, it almost "glows" in certain light. This piece and most of Chaudron's necklaces could be easily worn on either side.
His work is uniquely different but comparable to the other great Canadian Brutalist artists such as Larin, Vidal and Alfandary.
The brooch is 2" x 1.25"
Hand signed "Chaudron"
